AFHVS will be offering a limited virtual track during the 2022 AFHVS/ASFS annual conference.
To accommodate those who cannot or chose not to travel at this time, AFHVS/ASFS is also supporting a Virtual Program, which will include virtual lightning talks, workshops, roundtables, and creative sessions. This track will be limited in the number of presentations that it can accommodate. While we recognize that this is not the same as a fully hybrid conference, we believe that it will help us to move in the direction of greater sustainability and inclusion.
This virtual track is being offered during the same timeframe as the on-site conference in Georgia. Presenters will join the virtual track from their own locations via Zoom; individuals will be able to register for the virtual track only (no in-person attendance at the conference), and anyone who attends the in-person conference will be able to participate in the virtual track at no additional charge. Please note that in-person presentations will not be broadcast online. We invite the submission of abstracts for lightning talks, roundtables, workshops, and creative (e.g., films or demonstrations) sessions only. See below for more details.
We welcome submissions for the following categories for the virtual track.
- Lightning Talk: A 7-minute presentation
- Roundtable: Host a conversation on a topic with a group of stakeholders or experts as panelists
- Working session/Workshop: Collaboration or informal conversation on a specific topic
- Creative Sessions: original films, cooking demonstrations or other artistic/creative outputs
Abstracts (250 words) can be submitted online through the same Submission Portal page as submissions intended for in-person presentation. Please just be sure to select the Virtual option for your submission. The deadline for submitting an abstract is January 5, 2022. Corresponding authors (for lightning talks and creative sessions) and session organizers (for roundtables or working sessions) will be notified of the conference committee’s decision by early March 2022. Presenters will be required to register for the virtual track of the conference by April 15.
